‚ÄčI have mad appreciation for my amazing clients who choose to spend part of their Saturday morning sweating here with me. And on a holiday weekend no less! I decided to bring them some of my homemade energy bites to show my love and also to help them restore their energy after the tough workout that, by the way, they killed.

And they loved the bites!

These bites are a great, more natural alternative to commercial granola bars that can contain a lot of unwanted preservatives. They are great right from the fridge and you can also keep a bag in the freezer and grab a couple to go if you are on the run.

Keep in mind that each bite contains approximately 100 calories so they are best used as a quick pick-me-up snack rather than a meal replacement.

Here's the recipe:

Goodwellness Energy Bites

1/2 cup nut butter (I used almond butter)
1/3 cup honey
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1-2 tablespoons vanilla extract (natural kind)
1/4 cup coconut
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Pinch salt

Add nut butter and honey to bowl. Mix together thoroughly. This is easiest if ingredients are at room temperature.
Add all other ingredients and mix together
Place the mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes
Remove from fridge and roll into balls

You can swap out the chocolate chips and coconut for other things...ground nuts, flax seeds or chia seeds, dried fruit...get creative!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone!!
