Stress, anxiety, and pain.
Those words have come up a lot at Goodwellness lately.
Often, people under stress find themselves with chronic pain conditions.
And chronic pain conditions can most certainly cause stress and anxiety.
It is a cycle that can seem never ending for some individuals. And sometimes those individuals come to us for assistance with exercise.
I've come to realize that when a body is stuck in a "fight or flight" pattern, survival is its priority. Because they are in "protective" mode, muscles are unable to relax enough to relearn optimal movement.
The bottom line is that your body must be in a relaxed, receptive state before attempting any type of movement training or exercise program. Otherwise, it is not going to be effective. But this is not easy for those trapped in an anxiety/pain cycle!
With that in mind, we've been quietly introducing a new service at Goodwellness. We've offered it to a select group of individuals who've been stuck in this type of anxiety/pain cycle.
This new offering is a 60 minute session that is a unique combination of breathing drills, massage, and exercise. Each session is customized to the individual's needs. The objective is to bring the body into a state where it is the most receptive to movement and exercise before we hit the training floor. This method allows our clients to be able to take advantage of all the health benefits that exercise provides without exacerbating their pain.
So far we've seen such positive results with this program! It is unlike anything else we are aware of in the area. For that reason, we'd like to offer it to 4-5 more people who could benefit.
